Facebook Instant Articles Will Now Have a WordPress Plugin

Facebook Instant Articles Will Now Have a WordPress Plugin
At Facebook F8 Conference, the social networking site announced that its Instant Articles is now available to all publishers. Then, it decided to make it easier for some publishers to share their content on the platform.
But how? Facebook announced its partnership with Automattic. It's the parent company of WordPress. The partnership allows an introduction of a free plugin for Instant Articles.
On its blog post, Facebook said:
We're always looking for ways to make it easier for publishers to share their content on Facebook, so we've partnered with Automattic, parent company of WordPress.com VIP, to build a free plugin for Instant Articles, which simplifies the process of generating and publishing Instant Articles from WordPress. The open-source WordPress publishing platform now powers more than 25% of sites on the web, so we are excited to help millions of publishers all over the world bring the Instant Articles experience to their readers.
However, the plugin isn't available yet on WordPress, but you can get it on Github. Since it's an open source, you can obtain it and submit your reports to the community. Soon, it will be featured in the plugins directory of WordPress. This tool will take a blog's content and parses it. Doing it this way will make sure that the required formatting for Instant Articles is met.
Facebook added:
When Instant Articles opens up in April, publishers that use standard WordPress templates can activate the plugin out-of-the-box to create Instant Articles. Publishers that want a more customized production experience can extend the plugin to support additional elements. We encourage all interested publishers on WordPress to review the plugin's documentation and FAQs.
In May 2015, the social networking site introduced Instant Articles with only nine partners. Then, in September of the same year, the company added 20 more partners. The following month it has been available to all iPhone users.
For publishers, the WordPress plugin will give them the ability to tweak their design quickly to meet the criteria of Instant Articles from within WordPress environment. But, even with the plugin, Facebook will still make a final review of the process to verify that the Instant Articles of the publishers are indeed correct and adhere to the standards of the platform.
Furthermore, publishers will now have the option to allow Facebook sell advertising in their Instant Articles. It is possible through its ad network product known as the Facebook Audience Network.
It's a great move of Facebook. If more publishers are willing to participate in the Instant Articles, Facebook will also have more ad inventory to sell. Publishers will keep 70 percent of the profit from the ad, and the social networking site will keep the 30 percent revenue.
But WordPress won't only be supporting Instant Articles of Facebook, but it's also supporting the Accelerated Mobile Pages of Google. The plugin for AMP was released in February.
What do you think of this story? If you're a publisher, will you let Facebook sell advertising in your Instant Articles page? Why or why not? Please let us know in the comments below.
