There is some really sensitive information, including links to my published work (which is published under a psuedonym), photos of me, and other things that I don't want on the internet- all published on a free wordpress blog I started when I was about 12.

I have since lost the login info associated with the account (I think I used a throwaway email address). I don't know how I can prove ownership of the blog to delete it. I've been trying for weeks.

Since I probably can't, is there a way I can get old photos of myself/links to my writing removed from the blog? If WordPress considers me to not be the owner of the blog, can't I demand that the blog doesn't claim ownership to my writing and photos?

I don't know what could possibly be done legally, since I can't sue my 12-year-old self. I really wish there was a real person at WordPress I could talk to about my situation.

So, after reading about and knowing about the monthly income of Harsh Agarwal (CEO of ShoutMeLoud), you must be thinking to start your own blog to earn some money online, right?

But…how and where do you get started? There are thousands of blogs writing such articles, and everyone's sharing and writing different things. Whom should you listen? Where's the starting point?

If you are really serious about learning the blogging techniques and know how to set up a WP blog, then you're at the right place!

I promise you that in this article, I will provide the step by step guideline while enlightening you about the tools and resources that you need to achieve success with your blog.

Luckily, in 2017, setting up a blog in WordPress is easier than any other platform.

It does not require any skills like HTML, CSS and PHP. In fact, it's as simple as creating a folder in your local system. You just need to follow simple instructions during its installation and setup time.

Over 500 college students have already used my instructions to start their own WordPress blogs after attending my blogging summit in Jaipur. And now I am writing this post to share the same secrets with you without charging even a penny.

The only thing I want from you all is to just promise to let me know if you find this guide useful and that you will share with others to help them out to start their career in blogging.

So, let's get started!

There are 4 main things you need to start a WordPress blog:

A domain name idea (You can purchase one of the available domains from Namecheap.com or NameSilo.com both are good domain name provider)

A web hosting account (You can choose between shared, cloud or WordPress hosting from SiteGround or BlueHost)

A WordPress package setup (You can download it from wordpress.org)

A beautiful theme (You can buy or design a custom blog theme using StudioPress, Elegant Themes, ElmaStudio, Tesla Themes)

Ready? Well, let's get on with it!

Step I:  Register A Domain

Domain name is a web address. For e.g. www.wedigtech.com is my company domain. To have a domain you should register it with a domain registrar, like Namecheap, NameSilo.

If you don't have a domain, go to any domain provider and enter a new domain name you wish to register. If that domain will be available, you can get it easily by paying one or two-year subscription fee.

Refer the image below to get a clear picture. Note: For the purpose of this guide, I will register a new domain. If you are using an existing domain, the process is mostly the same.

Step -1 On this screen you'll either choose a brand-new domain and hit the search Button.

Step – 2 If your domain will be available, you just need to add it to your cart and click continue to cart.

Step- 3 In the last step select the subscription plan and pay for your domain name before proceeding to checkout. On the next page, fill in your bank account info.

Note:  If for any reason you don't want to use Namecheap, you can choose another domain registrar like NameSilo.

Step II: Select a Blog Friendly Web Host

What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is the form of activity or business to provide storage space and access for blog. Here you can store all the files, images and CSS, JS and content that your blog has. To run your WordPress blog, you have to register for a web hosting space and selecting a hosting provider is one of the most significant decisions that you need to make.

Here's a simple step-by-step guide for setting up your blog on Bluehost (or any other web host):

Sign up for a new account on Bluehost or any other web hosting provider (SiteGround, WP Engine, Media Temple)

Choose the hosting plan (you can pick the WordPress Hosting or any shared, cloud, Virtual server).

If you don't have any domain name yet, don't worry. Web hosting platforms provide it to you free.

Make Payment by providing your contact and billing information.

Use the 1-click install to get WordPress ready.

Let me explain these steps using an example to make it easier for you:

Visit Bluehost.Com and Click The "Get Started Now" Button

Choose The Hosting Plan (You Can Pick the Cheapest One)

After setting up your account and click on get started button Now it's time to choose your hosting package.

There are three options: Standard, Business and Pro

The standard option is perfect for single blog. The other two aren't really needed until your blog becomes famous and you will get thousands of visitors on your posts.

Choose The Domain Name

After selecting a hosting plan, it will redirect you to choose new domain (they'll give it to you for free) or enter existing domain (if you have any for your blog setup). You can choose among different ccTLDs (country code top-level domains) such as .net, .org, .blog, .co.in and .in if your first choice isn't available with .com.

If you already have a domain name, then simple enter your domain name in the second form on the right – "I have a domain name".

Enter Your Contact and Billing Information to Checkout

There are three parts to this final step – the first is Your Order Summary information. Second your Contact Details and third would be Payment Options.

Step III: Install WordPress Package on Hosting

After setting up your hosting with Bluehost or with similar hosting provider now, you need to install WordPress. If you are using Bluehost then you don't need to download WordPress set from WordPress.org because Blue Host provide in build 1-Click WordPress install.

Here is the step-by-step guide to install WordPress on Bluehost:

Login into your Bluehost hosting control panel at: my.bluehost.com

In control panel, go to website section where you can choose the option to "Install WordPress".

It will redirect you to next page where you can choose your blog destination URL. Choose your main domain (www.YourDomain.com, not YourDomain.com/blog/).

Step IV: Login to Your Blog to Setup a Theme

Now that your blog is ready to go live, hit your domain name to see how your blog is looking. You can customize your theme by logging in to your admin panel by visiting the URL that would look like: http://YourBlog.com/wp-admin/.  Enter your username and password that you have chosen while setting up WordPress.

After logging in, you'll see the welcome page of the admin panel.

Simplicity: Since it's totally peer-to-peer, you don't have to worry about consumers paying with a compatible financial solution. So long as they have a Bitcoin wallet, they're good to go.

Cost: For the most part, Bitcoin transactions come with much smaller processing fees (if any).

Convenience: There is no waiting period before you can gain access to your new funds. Once money is transferred from customers' wallets to your own, the money is yours to use. Just be aware that payments can't be reversed—on either end—which means that if you plan on issuing refunds, it's not as simple to do with Bitcoin.

Fraud: Each bitcoin has a hexadecimal code which is extremely difficult to crack. And because payments can't be reversed, you won't have to worry about fraudulent payments and the ensuing fees you have to pay for those chargebacks.

One thing to keep in mind here is that cryptocurrencies can be volatile, so you won't want to put all your eggs in one basket. Sure, there are clear benefits to accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, but the key word here is "option". Bitcoin should be offered in addition to the other payment types accepted through your WordPress site; not in place of them.

Because there isn't currently a huge demand for cryptocurrency payment compatibility in WordPress, you may be hard-pressed to find a plugin specifically built to accept Bitcoin payments. In all honesty, that's probably fine since offering a more diverse range of payment types is likely to net you more sales than going 100% crypto.

For example, you can sell physical and digital products, charge for access to gated content, offer paid memberships, and so on.

If you like how the GoUrl Bitcoin Payment Gateway plugin works and you've built your store using WooCommerce, then you'll probably want this plugin add-on. It does the same exact thing as the other plugin (i.e. add a cryptocurrency payment gateway to your site), but it was built specifically for the WooCommerce platform.

That said, 1.5% of the U.S. population isn't a drop in the bucket. If there are roughly 323 million people in the U.S. right now, that means that nearly 5 million people pay with bitcoins.

If you really want to cater to your target audience and ensure that they're receiving the best experience with your website, empower them to pay by whichever means they prefer. And with the help of one a WordPress plugin, you won't have to install (or pay for) a variety of payment gateway plugins to do it. All you need is one really solid all-in-one plugin to take care of it for you.

Hello, I'm replying to this thread because I'm having a similar problem. I've been searching on the internet and I've seen this exact same problem so many times that I think there's very likely a bug on the WordPress side. Screen capture shared below: I'm at the Facebook URL debugger tool, I've refreshed it more times than I can count. The error is

Could Not Connect To ServerCheck that the webserver is running, and that there are no firewalls blocking Facebook's crawlers.

That's not a cached image problem. Google search shows many people asking questions about the same error, the response is almost always something about cached images, which I know enough about the Facebook system to know that's usually the problem when people complain about sharing, but it's not an appropriate response when there is a clear error message saying "could not connect to server".

Welcome to today's selection of post that I have read that you might find interesting and entertaining.. I would love to share all the posts that I have enjoyed today but you would be here until Christmas….. however, feel free to send me the link to your latest post to sally.cronin@moyhill.com so that I can include.

The first post is by author Damyanti Biswas who is sharing some tips on how to make Blogspot posts more user friendly for readers who would like to share.

I used to blog via Google's Blogspot, or Blogger, for about 8 years– it ran parallel to this one until last year, when I merged the two blogs into this site. In all those years, I made tons of friends on Blogspot.

I still visit as many of you as I can (never enough, but still), and sometimes I wish I could talk to all you friends on Blogspot, tell you my wish-list as a visitor, commenter, and friend.

Here's a list of things I'd appreciate from my Blogspot friends in order to make it easier for us to stay in touch: (Some of you have them all covered– this is for those who may not have thought of these points)

Make it easy to follow you: Blogspot doesn't provide a good follow system any more— have you considered adding a Feedly widget? Here's a post on how that will help your commenters and followers.

Give us an option to comment via Name/ URL: A lot of Blogspot blogs do not allow a visitor to comment unless they're logged into Google plus or Blogspot. By allowing the Name/URL option as well as OpenID, you vastly increase the number of bloggers who can easily comment on your posts. Check out how to do this, here. If you're afraid of spam, you could enable comment moderation!

The next post to catch my eye was from Nicholas Rossis who has been on a retreat to a Greek Island that has been left largely untouched by modern technology and heaven forbid… Google.. Worth reading for the photographs and the desciptions of pterodactyl seagulls and sandy beaches and also as a test for your own addiction to being online.

You may have noticed I've been unusually silent in the past few days. The reason is that I took a much-needed break to a nearby island, Evia. However, it turned out I had accidentally stumbled upon the land that time forgot: no Internet a nywhere—including our hotel and the one café in the area—and a very spotty cell connection that made receiving emails almost impossible.

Mary Smith​ shares one of her early posts on caring for her father with Dementia.. following this blog is a must for anyone caring for a parent or as some do, both parents who are experiencing mental illness. You are not alone.. millions now are in the position of carer as their parents live longer lives.  Mary writes with humour and it is clear that she loves her father deeply. However, as dementia takes more of the mind it leaves huge gaps that result in frustrating and sometimes hurful behaviour.. Very tough to remember the man or woman who was when the person they are now do not know who you are.

After some time the step-monster announced she thought it would be a good idea if the Goldfish went into the local residential home – "only one day a week so he can have lunch and a shower." Wee-sis and I were horrified at this thin end of the wedge being shoved in. He'd hate residential care.

Since the dementia started he has become terribly confused – to the point of hallucinating – whenever he's had to go into hospital, not knowing where he is and not understanding why he is there when we explain he is in hospital. We've had some of the most bizarre conversations when the Goldfish has been in hospital. Once, he was convinced the nurses' station was a bakery and told Wee-sis to go and ask for a cake as they were just about to take one out of the oven. On another occasion he thought he had been taken to a hospital in the north of Scotland for blood tests and had been away overnight. "You'd think they would be able to do the tests here," he complained, "instead of wasting all that time and petrol to go to Perth."

My next post is from Yoly who is a mum to six children, three of whom are fostered. She clearly is very aware of road safety with so many to look after and in this post she recounts a story that illustrates her pet peeve.. dangerous driving.

Everyone has a pet peeve. What is your pet peeve? I'm going to share a funny story of how mine almost got me in trouble with the law.

It was time to take my kids to school. I had to park across the street to drop then off in front of the school. I had to walk with them since they were too young to cross alone. I crossed with them and came back to the car. As I'm in my car, I see this black SUV fly by me. I couldn't believe how fast she was driving while seeing all these kids running to school because the bell had rung. I was burning inside, I couldn't let it go.

I decided to follow her to give her a piece of my mind

What I post below applies only to sites hosted by WordPress.COM and not to any other sites hosted elsewhere.

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

* You will have to replace "name_of_blog" with the actual blog's name in that URL.

I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.

Contributing to WordPress or other open source projects can be intimidating for first-time contributors. Sometimes, all you need is a helping hand to overcome fear, intimidation, or other barriers.

In 2013, with the help of Konstantin Obenland, a WordPress core developer, I overcame my fear and contributed my first patch to WordPress.

This is one of the principles behind a new weekly meeting that is geared towards new contributors.

"The new contributors meeting is the perfect place to come if you are new to contributing to WordPress core and have questions," Adam Silverstein, WordPress core contributor, said.

Every Wednesday at 3PM Eastern Daylight Time, users can visit the #core WordPress Slack channel and ask questions related to patches, tickets, and review the good-first-bugs report on Trac.

The first meeting was held on July 5th where participants asked questions about working with Git in WordPress core, applying patches, and unit testing. In the second meeting, participants discussed whether or not new contributors are allowed to make changes to tickets.

Other topics mentioned include, which repositories to use, clarification on contributing to core versus updating the WordPress Developer's site, and which tickets to select for review.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, July 19th at 3PM Eastern. If you have any questions on how to contribute to WordPress, be sure to join the WordPress #core Slack channel at that time and ask away.
